TEN is pleased to present a solo exhibition by painter Annie Morgan Suganami [b.1952]

Suganami’s rich, flowing artworks proffer a contemporary take on classical subjects - portraiture and the still-life. Paintings are worked and re-worked, with layers of tones and textures built-up and accented with strong outlines and unexpected flashes of neon. The ease in which Suganami uses the materiality of her media shifts her subjects from the stiff and formal to the vibrant and dynamic

‘This current body of work stems from the past two years or so. I have worked intuitively, going with whatever seemed to interest me as well as giving myself the freedom to play as opposed to creating a body of work relating to a central theme.

I always return to people, whether portraits or imagined figures, my occasional creature characters are an extension of the same desire to 'feel' a presence and my plants fulfill the need to explore a more design and graphic art form’ - Annie Morgan Suganami

Mae TEN yn falch o gyflwyno arddangosfa o baentiadau gan yr artist Annie Morgan Suganami [g.1952]

Mae paentiadau cyfoethog, llifeiriol Suganami yn cynnig golwg gyfoes ar bynciau clasurol - portreadau a bywyd llonydd. Gweithir ac ail-weithir y paentiadau, gyda haenau o arlliwiau a gweadau yn cael eu hadeiladu a’u coroni ag amlinelliadau cryf a fflachiadau neon annisgwyl. Mae’r rhwyddineb y mae Suganami yn defnyddio’i chyfrwng yn golygu nad yw ei phynciau yn anystwyth a ffurfiol ond yn hytrach yn fywiog a deinamig

‘In my musical and artistic practice I explore their shared vocabulary; rhythm, texture, dynamics, colour and composition which enable improvisation. This vocabulary feeds my still-life work which is the outcome of improvising in the studio. My figurative work is based on real and imagined figures’ - Annie Morgan Suganami
